| Here are three books that you absolutely must read! 1) Juggling for the Complete Klutz - This is how I learned to juggle and juggling is one of the best possible ways to spend your time, especially if you stink at every other sport like me. 2) Lizard Music, by Daniel M. Pinkwater - This book is hilarious, but also important. I'll let you figure out why it's important. I also love many other Pinkwater books, including The Snarkout Boys, Alan Mendelson and more. Lyle, of course, recommends Pinkwater's The Hoboken Chicken Emergency and I do to. 3) The Remarkable Journey of Prince Jen, by Lloyd Alexander. Trust me, this book is absolutely amazing. If you like it -- and I think you will -- you can't go wrong with Alexander's incredible series of books that begins with The Book of Three. Make sure you read all five in order! Other books I love: The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin Ordinary Jack by Helen Cresswell (And all of her Bagthorpe books, plus The Night Watchmen, Winter of the Birds, Dear Shrink, The Beachcombers. Basically grab anything by Cresswell you can find.) The White Mountains by John Christopher (and the rest of that series and most of his other books, too) Once you hit high school, I'll recommend Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. And once you hit college, I'll suggest Titus Groan. And once you're out on your own without any teachers, I'll suggest Charles Dickens. And of course, I recommend SOCK MONKEY to everybody everywhere! As well as all of Cece Bell's books! |
